Manly at Manly is always a tough challenge and after a 1 point win at Gore Hill last time we met, we knew that both sides were pretty even over the paddock. From a good ressie players list we fielded 15 different players from last time that we meet and with this game starting at twelve as apposed to 8:30 a.m. everyone was up and primed for a big hitout.
Running out into a 3 goal wind our game structures changed a little to allow for the conditions and with tall forward options Bushy, Tommy, Undies, and Hamma on a milk crate we piled on 3 goals 6 behinds to Manlys 1 behind and hoped that our inaccurate kicking wouldn't come back to haunt us in the last.
With the change of ends the structures changed to suit the wind - pushing a extra man back and working the boundarys we held Manly to 2 goals 2 behinds and put 4 goals on ourselves through the hard running of the Dockers small men Westy, Libba, abnd Lawson - who's never say die attitude controlled the wings and forward fifty into the wind and with increased game time and training will continue to improve.
Cottsy and John Barry really showed total class as they took control of the centre and spotting up forwards at will mainly Undies with his massive cannon of a right foot securing 4 goals for the game. With the lucky charm DiVito snagging 2 goals Libba, Lawson, and Hamma followed his lead and all grabbed two a piece - great work boys.
As the game was out of reach a bit of niggle and frustration crept into the last quarter as a direct result of the back six's tight accountable brand of footy which is really starting to get results. With Jase Fretwell controlling his boys our discipline was really put to the test and I'm proud to say that they focused themselves and got back on with the job.
Overall a great result for the squad and keeps us in the race for the finals with a really tough game against Southern Power during school holidays our depth will be tested so let's all get around each other enjoy the win and begin to focus on taking on the undefeated power.

Well boys how good was the home ground of GWS, great rooms, great field, perfect day for footy. With a must win game against Camden to have any chance of sneaking into the five and playing finals.
From the outset Camden came out firing and were just as hard and hungry for the ball as ourselves and led at the mainbreak by two goals as a direct result of our poor ball use and inaccurate kicking of 3 goals 8 behinds. With all players flooding into the forward line our forwards, Bushy, Tommy, and Kippa had twenty plus players blocking up the fifty metre arc giving the forwards no room to move.
After a massive half time rev up and structure talk all players were reminded of their role in the side and what was required of them for us as a side to win this game which was hanging in the balance. As Jase keep plugging away in defence with a cork. Haliday, Brenno, Patto all lifted, tightened up, and strangled Camdens forwards allowing a swarm of Balmains little men Libba, Lawson, Westy, and Rhys to run riot throwing themselves in under packs putting tackles on kicking goals doing everything that had been asked of them giving us a one goal lead at three quarter time.
Then like clockwork the true class of Bushy and Kippa kicked in pouring on four relieving goals in the last quarter to seal the win and reward Cottsy, Robbo, and John Barry for all their hard running week in and week out. This win showed that as a team we can push for the whole four quarters and have the mental toughness to take on any challenge and come out the other side winners well done boys. And a MASSIVE THANK YOU to all the boys that came out to Blacktown and supported their mates by assisting with running water and other duties and sharing in a great win and also our ruckmans massive hanger.
Next week we take on Manly at their home ground another massive challenge against good opposition. We will be car pooling from bayswater rd ( Drummoyne Oval) at 9am to get us to Pittwater Oval at around 10 a.m. to set up for this big game then after we can scoot home to Drummoyne Oval to support the First Grade side on against Wests in what will be a cracking game at a great ground so lets get behind the club and make Saturday a day full of victories.
