Native of New South Wales Frank played originally played soccer but on the formation of the Balmain Club he threw his lot in with the national game and has since been identified with the cause.
He played at least 11 Representative games for Sydney or New South Wales. No other Balmain player since is known to have played as much Representative footy as him.
He was a ruckman and in 1907 played Seniors and was also Secretary of the Club.

Born in Sydney went to South Australia at an early age, started playing as a 10 year old, played with Broken Hill, Norwood (1897) then came to Balmain from West Sydney, a club based at Wentworth Park.
He was Captain of the Club for 5 consecutive years.
In 1910 he went to East Sydney as Balmain was only fielding an Under 21 team. He returned to Balmain at the end of his playing career and became Club Secretary, was reported to play another game with Balmain in 1913 when the team was short of players.

Ray came to Balmain after careers with West’s and East’s. He had won 2 B & F’s at West’s and had played in 4 Premiership’s involving both Clubs. So when he came to Balmain he was a very welcome addition. He Captain Coached the Club for 4 years were he won his Phelan Medal for best player in the competition.
Ray played in the centre and was known as a player that revels in the mud. It was reported that “he must be classed as one of the best ever mud runners in football”
In 1957 when Vice- Captain for NSW against Perth he picked up the award for best on ground. Ray was selected as Vice-Captain and in the centre in Balmain’s Team of the Century. He was known as the ‘Iron Man of football’.

Throughout Australian Football in Sydney the name John Coles is synonymous with the Balmain Australian Football Club. John played his first game for the Club in 1964. In 1966 he played for both Seniors and Reserves on one day and was named in the best players for both teams. In 1972 he came back from a “serious knee injury” to Captain the Reserve Grade team as well as be Secretary of the Club. John played over 300 games for the Club. He was instrumental in securing licensed premises for the Club and was Secretary Manager of both the Balmain Tennis and Drummoyne Sports Club, thus insuring the future of the Football Club. John’s wife Mary is a Club Life Member and sons Matthew and Adam have continued on the family tradition also being Life members and both playing in the Club’s Senior League Premiership team in 1998 after Adam had made the 1997 Premiership team. John has been the Football Club’s longest serving President he held that position for 11 years.

Inducted to the New South Wales Hall of Fame 2004.

Cec started playing for Balmain Under 16’s in 1953. In 1954 he was a member of the New South Wales Under 16’s Representative team against Queensland. In 1955 was a member of Balmain’s Under 18 Premiership team and also played Seniors that year as a still as a 16 year old. 1n 1958 he was made Captain of the Senior side in absence of Ray Moore. In 1963 Cec kicks 12 goals against Bankstown at Trumper Park.
Described as ‘the boy’s football sense should be a lesson to all , he never tries the ‘fancy dan stuff’ when within goalkicking distance he always kicks a goal’.
And his courage was legendary, in the previous game he was kicked in the ribs and the following week in pain with his ribs tightly bound to watch the team, he decided to play when the side was short of players, although several Reserve Graders were backing up he kicked 3 goals and was one of Balmain’s best players. He played his first 207 games without missing a game through injury. He missed his first game because of an appendix operation. In 1968 he was made a Life Member of the Club playing 278 games over 15 years. He played his 300th game on Saturday July 22, 1972. The greatest Balmain player ever.

Barnsie as he was affectionately known was in charge of fun at the Club. He spent more than half his lifetime being involved with Balmain. He came to support the Club in 1972 and died still being a major fundraiser in 2005.
Peter was always backing Balmain people – players and officials and never said a bad word about anyone.
He was famous for running the Christmas Day “Orphans Party” for those players who came to the Club from interstate who had no place or family to go on Christmas Day – you would always be invited and accepted at Pete’s place.
He wasn’t just a Club Member, Club Stalwart, Life Member, Sponsor, Fund Raiser he was recognised as a Supporter of the Team of the Century, he was a Club Non-playing Legend and he was the Club’s guardian angel.

Life Member 1962.
OTHER HONOURS Started and Coached Club Juniors for 3 seasons 1954-57. Was on Initial Committee to start Balmain/Ryde Junior Association.

Milton has been an institution to the Club. He has spent more than 50 years supporting the Club and for 40 of them actively involved either on or off field. Milton was a member of the 1952 Reserve Grade Grand Final Team that was beaten by one point. He said then and says now it is still the ‘saddest day of my life’. He has involved his family at the Club with brother Doug being a Club President, wife Nancy on the Social Committee and both sons playing for the Club with Peter being an Under 19’s Captain in 1979. He has held almost every position within the Club. He has stepped up when required, stepped up to take over the Club Captaincy, stepped up to start the Juniors, stepped up as the Club President. The current Under 18’s Best & Fairest Trophy is named in his honour. Milton is a Club Legend.

Bruce played his first game for Balmain in the Under 18’s in 1969 and has been involved with the Club ever since. Bruce was a Reserve Grade Premiership player and a member of a number of Grand final teams in all Grades for the Club over his long playing career. He was a ‘pacy left footer’ who was comfortable playing on the wing or half back flank. He played over 400 games for the Club. Bruce has spent 18 years on the Committee of the Club mainly as Club Secretary. He was with John Coles instrumental in securing the Club licensed premises from the Balmain Tennis Club to the Drummoyne Sports Club (where he is also President) that has secured the future of the Club for many years to come. He was made a life member over 20 years ago and is still actively involved with the Club
