Fosdike, 29, was forced to retire from AFL football prior to the commencement of the 2009 season due to an ongoing knee injury. He played 164 games for the club after being a first round draft pick in 1998 and was a key player in their 2005 Grand Final win. He was also awarded Life Membership for his contribution to the Swans. Fosdike was introduced to the playing group at training last night along with his senior assistant coaching staff, Jason Saddington and Daniel Bourke, along with Under 18 coach Marcus Busch, and took his first training session at Marrickville Oval, with very good numbers and high quality and intensity shown by the group. Fosdike's signing continues a successful recruiting campaign for the Dockers which has included fellow former Swans Jason Saddington and Tim Schmidt, Schmidt's brother Sam as well as the re-signing of dual Best & Fairest winner Janis Blums and key ruckmen James "Dusty" Miller. The club is also hopeful of announcing some more signings in the coming weeks with everyone associated with the Club excited for the forthcoming season and the challenges it will bring. |
